In August of 2010, the United Church Home Society, Inc.’s Board of Trustees approved the purchase of a two story residence on Broadway Avenue in Lancaster, New York. They are pleased to announce the home will support the Plymouth Crossroads Project which will offer long-term housing for abused and homeless youth throughout Western New York. The United Church Home will operate the program on behalf of the Society which is the sponsoring organization.

“We are thrilled to finally have a home for our youth. We have secured the necessary approvals and funding for the home. Minor renovations to meet the needs of our program will begin by the end of August,” said Casimier Czamara, Chief Executive Officer of the United Church Home Society.

Plymouth Crossroads will serve between 35 – 40 male youth and young adults annually, ages 16 to 20. The residence will house up to eight youth at any given time. Average length of stay in transitional housing is 6-12 months and varies with each individual. A thorough initial assessment will be completed for each individual prior to entry into Plymouth Crossroads residence to determine appropriateness of services. Youth in the Plymouth Crossroads Program will not have a history of severe drug or alcohol addiction, or have a history of violence, aggression, or severe mental illness.

The Plymouth Crossroads Transitional Residential Living Program will provide safe shelter and empower young people to develop independent, healthy paths to their future by offering them the tools they need to be self-supportive and avoid long term dependency on social services.
